A Day with Tenancingo Girls Club

The Girls Club in Tenancingo was held today and it was a joy to see the young girls that attended the club.  They met outside and I will explain why later.  The club was finishing up the second book that is titled, “Overcoming Obstacles”.  Clarita is the leader of the club, but because she had to work today, Fatima led the group in her stead.  They talked about what they had learned over the last eleven months, played a couple of games, made a craft, and had a snack at the end.  You can tell that the girls enjoy their time there. Check out all the photos below!

The oldest girl, Yulisa (in the middle wearing black), is in her last year of high school and Fatima took the opportunity to talk to her about becoming an assistant leader under Clarita.  And it’s possible that she could be a candidate for our Hope House Discipleship/Scholarship Program.

Now, as to why they met outside.  When Fatima and I entered the Community Center that we use to hold the club, it smelled horrible.  As I looked around, I could see black spots all over the floors and walls (see the photos below).  It was clear that the bats had taken over.  Unfortunately, the windows are open, and the roof has a few holes that allow the bats to get in.  The community wants to fix the problems, but finding funds to do it can be difficult.  I felt God impress on me that we can step in and help.

We could raise funds to purchase the materials needed or, drum roll……… we could facilitate a small team that could come down and spend a couple of days power washing, putting up screens, repairing the roof and possibly even painting.

If anyone reads this and feels compelled by the Lord to come to the aid of this Girls Club and their community, please contact me.  It would be a huge blessing to the community and gives us an opportunity to show the community leaders our appreciation for giving us the space to hold the club. If you are interested, you can contact me by email at david@hopeforfams.org or call me at (360) 718-6148.  I would love to hear from you.
